About Welshdale
A small practice, run by the person doing the work.
Welshdale Consultancy Ltd advises businesses on commercial contracts, due diligence and disputes from the United Kingdom.

The firm
We are deliberately small. Clients deal directly with the principal, and instructions are not delegated to junior staff or subcontracted out. That limits how much work we can take, which we regard as a feature rather than a constraint.
Our work is concentrated where contracts are complex and cross-border: industrial and energy sectors, and trade between Europe and the Middle East, North Africa and West Africa.
Who we work with
Our clients are businesses with real commercial exposure on the other side of a contract, rather than institutions with in-house departments to absorb it.
- Contractors and subcontractorsWorking under multi-document agreements in engineering, construction and energy.
- Suppliers and distributorsEntering or renegotiating supply, agency and distribution arrangements across borders.
- Industrial and family-owned groupsBusinesses large enough to carry significant contractual risk, without a standing legal function.
- International businesses entering new marketsCompanies trading into the Middle East, North Africa and West Africa for the first time.
How we work
We give clients our assessment rather than the one they were hoping for, in writing, with the reasoning shown. Where we are uncertain, we say so. Where a matter falls outside what we can properly do, we say that too and point to someone who can.
All engagements are confidential. We do not publish client names, transaction details or case studies.
Our approach
Direct, written and independent.
- Senior attention
- Reasoning shown
- Uncertainty stated
- Confidential by default
