Dispute Support
Commercial support to parties in dispute, working alongside their legal advisers rather than in place of them.

Working alongside lawyers
Welshdale is a commercial consultancy, and we work with solicitors and counsel rather than in place of them. Our contribution is commercial and contractual: what the documents actually say, what the relationship is worth, and what a sensible resolution would look like.
Where a matter calls for litigation, formal legal advice or representation before a court or tribunal, we work with a number of law firms in the United Kingdom and internationally and can introduce clients to one suited to the matter. Many clients prefer to have both, and instruct us alongside their lawyers throughout.
What we do
- Position assessmentReconstructing the contractual position from the documents and assessing the commercial merits before costs are committed.
- Negotiated settlementPreparing and conducting settlement discussions where a commercial resolution remains available.
- Mediation supportPreparing a client's case and supporting them through a mediation.
- Arbitration supportCommercial and contractual support to a party in arbitration proceedings, alongside their appointed representatives.
Before it becomes a dispute
The cheapest point to deal with a disagreement is the first exchange of correspondence, before positions harden and before either side has spent enough to need a result. Clients are welcome to bring us in at that stage, and we would generally rather they did.
Earlier is better
Before correspondence becomes a position.
Early commercial assessment can preserve options that disappear once costs are committed and positions harden.
A dispute is easier to manage before the positions harden.
